‘Polyamour’ is the debut album from Austrian electronic music starlet, Clara Moto; it’s a lush, emotive and startlingly mature body of work from a supremely talented young artist/producer and a superb addition the catalogue of Agoria’s much hailed Infine label.

Clara Moto (christened Clara Prettenhofer) was born in the pretty village of Graz, where she developed a love of music through playing the many instruments in her family home before finding a passion for DJing. This passion took her from sets at her local student bar to gigs at Vienna’s Elevate and Springs Festivals and onwards to Melbourne, Sonar in Barcelona and the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada. During this global journey Clara met up with an enthusiastic French DJ going by the name of Agoria, he showed an obvious passion for nurturing fresh talent on his Infine label and instantly saw the potential in Clara’s fledgling productions.

After three years recording with Infine and a number of critically acclaimed singles Clara is ready to unleash her debut long player on the world at large. ‘Polyamour’ is an album that extends far beyond the realms of dance music or even the broader label of electronic music; it breathes a rich musicality that displays an incredible depth and a level of production that belies Clara’s youth. From the opening bars of the ethereal and emotive ‘Emory Bortz’ the listener is drawn in to a sonic soundscape of ambient auras, deep house grooves and uplifting vocal melodies (courtesy of featured vocalist Mimu).

Previous singles ‘Glove Affair’ and ‘Silently’ both feature here and whilst both are stunning tracks showcasing Clara’s grasp of quality house production they are by no means the lone highlights in this body of work, in fact it is hard to pull particular favourites from this consistently brilliant collection of recordings. From the classic soulful house vibes of ‘Deer and Fox’ to the deeply entrancing ‘Song of Exhaustion and Ivory’ through the blissed out ‘Joy of my Heart’ and onto techy floorfiller of ‘Take a Second’ there is just so much on offer here.

It is a rare thing for an album of electronic music to offer just musical breadth without sounding like a forced together compilation or a ‘dance album’ with token alternatives, yet Clara Moto has managed to produce something that transcends the ordinary, an album that rides like a rollercoaster through a sea of sounds and emotions whilst maintaining a sonic consistency that makes it a pure pleasure to listen to.

There is no doubt that this debut album is a marker in the career of an artist who will be with us for many years to come, such talent is a rare thing and such music is something to be savoured… long live Clara Moto and all she has to offer.
